That quote came in just in time a month ago when I found myself at a difficult crossroads. After disabling this account for over a month and having some serious reflections, I have decided to say goodbye to this account and start all over. Curatedwithsoul as it is known now was once Asaakemi. Before then, it had one other name when it was my ghost personal account. My posts here has changed a lot over the years and i’ve been through so many changes in life while attached to this account. This page has lost the spark it once had for me. It feels stale, I have no joy left here and I truly don’t feel inspired. It has also grown in many inactive followers. I’ve grown weary of inspiring others while being inspired myself. I believe in seasons... for as the earth remains, seasons change. I just recklessly abandon when the season comes. This is the season for this.

I am in a new season in my personal life :)
I don’t have the energy nor the time to meet the expectations of a “content creator” and I really no longer identify as one (that term really makes me cringe now) So, i’m starting a new account. A space just to share the things I love, some thoughts and my love for photography. No expectations.
Rather than instagram being a chore. I see it more as an outlet for my creativity. I want to have it be like a magazine i’d love to pick up.

Thank you so much to all of you who have stayed with me through the years! You are appreciated. I am retiring here. This is a difficult call to make but one that I know I will ultimately find joy in.

Today, I am grateful for the joy derived from making foods that nourish my body and all the cells that make it.
I’m grateful for the simple pleasures of turning cane sugar into syrup for all the yummy recipes to come

I’m thankful for the grace to find joy in living simple, this way.

It’s been 5 years of desiring a simpler life, everything is just beginning to fall into place. I’ve always wanted to make and grow my own food regardless of how “successful” and career driven I become. I can slow down here, live in this moment and enjoy this simper things. This is slow living for me... I’m thankful for the journey thus far ❤️🍂

Only by practice and completion will you fully know what needs to be corrected and perfected. The delusion of perfection will always leave you disappointed. The ideas in your head will always remain ideas in your head.... you will never achieve anything if it remains just a thought in your head waiting for the perfect day, time and place to act.
You will never be a great historian overnight. You must start telling little stories in the best way you know how. You will never be a perfect photographer if you don’t learn to capture the things that interests you in the best way you know how.

So start, practice, let go of perfectionism, step away from the delusion of being a “recovering perfectionist”.
You will never be perfect, but you will get better- with practice and lots of completions 🌿🌿

Simple yogurt bowls like these come in handy on days when I don’t really need to make any big decisions about what to eat. Just like I hate making decisions in life 🤦🏾‍♀️
If you know me personally, you know I hate making decisions partially because I am a perfectionist. I like to know the outcome of a decision without I made them- a luxury life doesn’t always award me. So I’m often stuck 🤦🏾‍♀️.

My biggest decision of late has been what I whether or not to post more food contents here and slowly retire my food page (@heroatsbowl). I’m starting an intense study session for the next several months for an exam and really don’t have the time luxury to devote fully to both accounts anymore and it makes me sad.

Anyways, there’s where I’m at. Many of you have followed me from the @asaakemi days and understand my struggles. Haha. So yeah, opinions are welcome 😂.
Until I figure what exactly to do. Enjoy my food posts here too 👀

Yesterday... moments before I dusted an old lens and decided to shoot for fun, for old time sake.
I captured my trusty camera before I set it in motion. It was glorious 😫.

I realized just how much I’ve missed it. How much I’ve missed shooting things.... as opposed to food which I do more regularly on @heroatsbowl

I’m finally coming out of an odd creative rut 😂. Like Lisa Evans said: “creativity doesn’t just happen. You need to deliberately nurture it by giving it time and space to grow”. She recommends scheduling “creativity dates” with fellow creatives and just brainstorm... or go one. Creative date with yourself.
I’m bee in utilizing both and it’s helped... rather than just sitting and waiting for the creative juice to kick in.

So, hey, here’s me coming out from hibernation. It’s been a restful weekend again.... keeping the momentum with everything going on, but finding some sense of normalcy here. ⠀⠀
In the last week, I have unfollowed people, blocked people, been unfollowed and probably been blocked too 😂.
